At the end of December 2014 Vijay and Bhikhu Patel decided to transfer the operation of a substantial part of their Waymade business, based on the Pipps Hill Industrial Estate, Basildon to the B&S Group.
This was largely to enable the brothers to take things a little more easily, as having been in business together for more than 40 years they wished to spend more time with their families and in particular their grandchildren.
Some restructuring of activities is necessary to ensure overall operations bring the greatest benefits to their employees, suppliers and most importantly, their customers.
As a consequence, the distribution business of Waymade was transferred to the B&S Group on 1st January 2015.
Waymade has retained its Sovereign Generics operations along with its pharmaceutical business, Atnahs and other recently acquired businesses and continues managing the operations from the Miles Gray offices in Basildon.
Having reviewed the operations in Basildon over the last two months, B&S believe that some restructuring of activities is necessary to ensure that their overall operations bring the greatest benefits to their employees, suppliers and most importantly, their customers. The review has indicated that the productivity of some parts of B&S’s Basildon operation are not economically viable in their current form. B&S have therefore commenced a formal consultation process with specific staff groups regarding the future operation of these areas. It is possible that following this consultation a reduction in employee numbers may occur; however, at this stage no decisions have been made about the future of any part of the B&S business based in Basildon.
End of statement.
